Biographies of Individual Ancestors

Have you found a particularly interesting ancestor perhaps with an unusual occupation or a chequered past and would like to find out more? I can put together personal biographies:

A narrative of your ancestor’s life

A brief description of relevant social, local and national history to put it into context

Copies of all records used

Detailed references of sources used

Details of searches performed

Each biography is unique and the sources used to tell their tale vary greatly depending on their availability and relevance. Generally England and Wales online sources are used, examples of some are shown below:

• General Register Office (GRO) birth, marriage and death certificates
• 1841-1911 England and Wales census returns
• Parish Records
• Military Records
• Criminal Records
• Poor law records
• Newspapers
• Probate records
• School and employment records
• Tax records

As all ancestors are unique, costs for biography projects vary depending on the number of records available for your ancestor. After determining what you already know about your ancestor during our first conversation, I will provide you with a customised project plan and a quote.
